THE PER$ECUTED play an intoxicating blend of Funky Rock n roll, Americana all mixed in with an unmistakably, distinctively British sensibility. The Per$ecuted - a classic four piece line up of Johnny Black (lead vocals and guitar), Steve Botcher ( guitar and backing vox) Brad Wray (bass and backing vox) and Mark Skeggs (drums) - are generating a growing following in North East London. The band has a fine pedigree with Johnny Black, a respected songwriter in his own right as well as with Black Scarr; Steve and Brad coming out of the popular local band The Escape Committee and Mark an experienced, versatile, solid as a rock-like thing on drums. The band have a real passion for delivering a performance that does justice to Johnny’s powerful and hard hitting songs all offset by an irresistible vein of bleak humour which runs through the lyrics and the live show. Indeed, the band has coined the admittedly made up word “Britainicarna” to try to do justice to this unique blend of influences and styles.
